The 5th Transnational Call for Proposals for collaborative projects, reflecting the needs and challenges in the MANUFACTURING RESEARCH – MANUNET Call 2011 is open!

The strategic objective of the MANUNET call for proposals is to foster the competitiveness of Europe’s Manufacturing Industry by supporting the funding of manufacturing research projects performed by enterprises (preferably SMEs) and their strategic partnerships.

The MANUNET call includes all fields in Manufacturing, structured in the following topics:
  • Information and communication technologies for manufacturing including industrial robotics
  • Environmental and energy technologies
  • Knowledge-based engineering technologies (computer-aided engineering and design, automated manufacturing, product lifetime management, etc.)
  • Adaptive manufacturing technologies: processes for removing, joining, adding, forming, consolidating, assembling
  • Other technologies/products related to the manufacturing field
However, the respective regional/national thematic programme focus should be taken into account.

What kinds of projects are expected?

The funding objectives of the call are transnational application oriented and high risk R&D projects related to Manufacturing. The project proposals must clearly demonstrate:
  • Transnational, collaborative R&D with a significant degree of innovation and scientific and technical risk
  • Market orientation
  • The application and practical use of manufacturing technologies
  • Expertise of the project partners in their respective fields of competence
  • Added value through transnational cooperation
  • Scale of impact and the market positioning of the applicant

Participating Member states and Regions:

Asturias (Spain), Basque Country (Spain), Catalonia (Spain), Estonia, Franche-Comté (France), Germany, Israel, Lower Austria (Austria), Navarra (Spain), Northern Ireland (United Kingdom), Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland, Turkey, Tuscany (Italy), Wallonia (Belgium), Western Greece (Greece).

All MANUNET projects must be designed on the following principle: consortia consisting of at least 2 independent SMEs belonging to 2 participating countries, or 2 regions in different countries (see list of regions/countries).

Large companies, academic research groups, universities or other public organisations, as well as subcontractors, may also participate according to their regional/national financing regulations, as long as there are 2 independent SMEs belonging to 2 different participating countries.

The composition of the consortium should be efficient in size in order to accomplish the objectives proposed. However, small medium projects with no more than 4 or 5 partners are expected.

The eligible Romanian thematic area is "Materials and innovative technologies and products". Phases of R&D being funded: basic research, pre-competitive, application, serial production, market entry. Funding rate: 50%-100% depending on type of research and type of institution (State Aid Scheme). Types of institutions eligible for funding: public and private Universities, Research Institutes, Research organisations, SMEs, Industry.

6th Transnational Call for Proposals for collaborative projects in the field of Micro and Nano Technology (MNT) Call 2011 is open!

MNT-ERA.NET continues to encourage the submission of commercialisable R&D proposals addressing all fields of micro and nano technologies including production processes and technologies.

In this Transnational Call 2011, particular emphasis will be put on the following applications:
  • Processing of (multi)material systems (e.g. nanostructured materials, composites and micro/nano multimaterial systems, processes for low cost high volume manufacturing)
  • Materials functionalisation (e.g. nano objects, structured surfaces & interfaces)
  • Smart Sensor Systems (e.g. sensor networks, sensors for logistics, control of infrastructure, electronic identification systems, cognitive systems, optical systems)
  • Medical and health devices (e.g. networked monitoring of health parameters, bio sensors and actuators, bio interfaces, lab on chip)
  • Life cycle (optimisation) processes for micro/nano systems, development methods, reliability assessment, integration technologies (e.g. energy efficient production technologies, energy harvesting and storage systems, power conversion and management, recovery of rare materials)
However, the respective regional/national thematic programme focus should be taken into account.

What kinds of projects are expected?
  • Funding is intended for innovative research and development projects.
  • The project duration is limited to a maximum of 3 years.
  • The consortium must demonstrate how to commercialize the expected results.
  • Benefits for each partner from trans-national cooperation must be shown.

Participating Member states and Regions:

Austria, Belgium (Walloon Region), Finland, France, France (Région Midi-Pyrénées), Germany, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain(Basque Country), Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey.

Project consortia consisting of at least two parties from two different participating countries/regions can apply for funding. The consortia may involve as many partners as necessary. Partners from countries (regions) not being the members of MNT-ERA.NET can participate with their own funding.

3rd Call for Proposals for European Innovative Research & Technological Development Transnational Projects in Nanomedicine - EuroNanoMed ERA-NET call 2011 is open!

Following the success of the first two Calls in 2009 and 2010, EuroNanoMed is launching its 3rd Joint Transnational Call for funding of innovative research projects in Nanomedicine.
Proposals can address the three subfields:
  • Regenerative medicine
  • Diagnostics
  • Targeted delivery systems

The call will enable scientists from European and associated countries to establish collaborative research consortia spanning multiple disciplines.

Participating Member states and Regions:
Basque region (Spain), France, Germany, Iceland, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey,Veneto Region (Italy), Walloon Region (Belgium).

Research proposals have to involve a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 7 partners from at least 3 different countries, while keeping a majority of partners from EuroNanoMed member states/regions participating in the call.

Furthermore, a proposal must include partners from at least two of the three categories: academia, clinical/public health and industry.

Black Sea ERA.NET 2010 Pilot Joint Call for Research Proposals is open!

PJC Objectives:

The main objective of the BS-ERA.NET Pilot Joint Call is to promote collaborative research on Climate and Environment or Energy taking a proactive and innovative approach to developing solutions for a sustainable development in the extended Black Sea Region.

Type of the research projects:

The joint research projects will address mainly applied research. However, basic research of direct relevance for the thematic focus of the call may be addressed too. Projects may also include dedicated measures to enhance mobility, exchanges and access to medium/large scale infrastructures, with the aim to promote researchers mobility and to foster the development of long-term research collaboration.

Research proposals regarding one of the following thematic fields can be submitted: 

1. Climate and Environment:

    1.1. Exploitation and transport of mineral resources: impact on environment;

    1.2. Water pollution prevention options for coastal zones and tourist areas.

2. Energy:

    2.1.  Hydrogen production from H2S rich Black Sea Water;
    2.2. CO2 capture and storage technologies for zero emission power generation in the Black Sea region.

Socio-economic aspects can be included in the research proposals where relevant.

Which are the countries participating to the call?

Countries that are participating in the BS-ERA.NET Pilot Joint Call are: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Moldova, Romania, Turkey, and Ukraine.

What kind of institutions can participate?

Institutions applying for funding must be eligible for funding by their respective national Funding Party. They can be higher education and research institutes, R&D companies and SMEs.

Other institutions not eligible for funding are invited to join the consortium as well on their own expenses.

The project consortium must comprise at least eligible institutions from 3 different participating countries, of which at least one from a EU country and one from a non-EU country from the extended Black sea region (List of non-EU BS countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Turkey, Ukraine). One of the institutions must be designated as Coordinating Institution.

Duration:

The duration of a project must be between 18 and 36 months.

UEFISCDI through the "Partnership in S&T Priority Areas" funding programme, is committed to this call with the total budget of 500.000 euros/call.

CROSSTEXNET Call 2010 is open!

The funding objectives of the call are trans-national, application oriented, R&D projects related to high added value textile materials.

Romanian legal entities which can apply are: R&D organizations, Research Institutes, universities, SMEs, industry, NGOs, Public Administration. Only applicants validated in the Register of Potential Contractors (RPC) are eligible for funding. The State Aid Scheme for R&D applies.

2nd INTERNATIONAL JOINT CALL FOR COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH PROJECTS IN NANOMEDICINE-EuroNanoMed call 2010 is open!

Under the umbrella of EuroNanoMed (ERA-Net for research programmes on Nanomedicine), 16 funding organisations have agreed to launch the 2nd Joint Transnational Call (JTC) in 2010 for collaborative research projects in Nanomedicine. The EuroNanoMed funding organisations particularly wish to promote innovative interdisciplinary collaboration and to encourage translational research proposals.

Research project consortia who intend to submit a transnational proposal should register as soon as possible at http://www.euronanomed.net, clicking the “to register” button and following the directions.

Each proposal must involve a minimum of three research groups from three different countries including at least two EuroNanoMed member states participating in the 2d joint transnational call (Belgium, France, Germany, HUNGARY, Iceland, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, SPAIN, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey). The maximum number of participants in a consortium is seven. Research groups from non-funding countries may participate in projects if they are able to secure their own funding. Such partners should state the source of funding for their part in the project. However, the majority of research groups in a consortium must be from EuroNanoMed funding member states/regions .

To apply to this joint transnational call, it is mandatory to have a consortium comprising group(s) from at least two out of the three following categories:
- academia (research teams working in universities, other higher education institutions or research institutes);
- clinical/public health research sector (research teams working in hospitals/public health and/or other health care settings and health organizations);
- enterprise (all sizes of private companies). Participation of small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) is encouraged.

Project proposals will address multidisciplinary and translational research. The project proposals must cover at least one of the following areas that are equal in relevance for this call:
a) Regenerative medicine
b) Diagnostics
c) Targeted delivery systems

Each proposal must include:
i) at least one clinical/public health research team and/or one industrial research team per consortium and
ii) partners from at least two categories: academia, clinical/public health, industry

The 1st transnational ERACOBUILD SusRen call is open!

SusRen is a joint call by the ERA-Net Eracobuild partners from Austria, Denmark, Finland, Flanders, France, Nordic Region, Romania, Sweden and Switzerland.

The purpose of this call is to generate joint research and innovation activities within sustainable renovation of the existing built environment. The call provides opportunities for researchers, industries and other organizations to take part in multilateral cooperation in the field of sustainable renovation. Projects being proposed are welcome to include partners from other countries than mentioned above. However, these partners have to finance their participation from other sources.

The overall goal with Eracobuild Sustainable Renovation program is to support research and innovation for balanced and sustainable development within the built environment and sustainable economic growth of society. The research area Sustainable Renovation covers a wide scope of technological, environmental, social, cultural, economic and institutional aspects.

The transnational NEURON ERA.NET call 2010 is open!

"European Research Projects on Mental Disorders"


The aim of the call is to enable multi-national, collaborative research projects that will address important questions relating to mental disorders. The call may receive proposals within the breadth of research from understanding basic mechanisms of disease through proof-of-concept clinical studies in man. These may include research on depression and bipolar disorders, phobia and anxiety disorders, schizophrenia and psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, and other mental disorders. Research on dementia is not included in the present call.
The ERA-Net NEURON funding organisations particularly wish to promote multi-disciplinary work and to encourage translational research proposals that combine basic and clinical approaches.
